Yeah I thought so too. After the amazing opening number I was disappointed we didn't get more like that. And there was that scene, a good scene, where Ryan and Emma are dancing in the street.(that long take) There totally should have been singing there.
I absolutely loved the ending of this movie. One of the best parts was when Mia heard Sebastian play piano in his own club at the end, and everything that “could have been” flashed before her eyes. I almost believed that it was all actually happening, and for a moment I was happy.
Moonlight was a serious film about a man's mostly sad life played by a far less known actor. I don't agree that La La Land spoke to artists more than Moonlight did, just that it has mass appeal. Greatest Showman also was more popular than Three Billboards or the Shape of Water. Doesn't mean it deserved best picture.
That's how you end up with a giant, diverse spectrum of art that builds a collective multi-dimensional reflection of that topic. And that's the end goal, at least for me as a viewer. I want as many opinions and perspectives as possible, that's what keeps film interesting. Is La La Land too white? Well, it's subjective.

I-LAND FINALE. It has been more than two months since I-land started, we have been able to see the boy's improving over time, and I am sure most of us are attached to them. I will miss sitting on Fridays waiting for I-land to start, but at the same time, I will be glad that at least some of those boys got to make their dreams a reality.
